Veeco Instruments Inc. is seeking a Process Development Engineer to lead development of advanced thin film processes at our Beverly, MA site.

The role involves owning design of experiments, data analysis, and driving BKMs for process control in collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing teams. The position requires strong background in vacuum thin film technologies and the ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Physics/Materials Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of related experience in process development.
• Expertise with vacuum thin film technology and metal thin films.
• Experience with thin film characterization methods (4-point probe, stress, ellipsometry, spectroscopy, XRD/XRR, depth profiling).

Responsibilities

• Lead process and application development using Veeco's ion beam deposition and etch technologies.
• Manage development of advanced thin film processes aligned with customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain best-known methods (BKMs) for process control and continuous improvement.
• Engage with customers as the technical expert and support partnerships at key accounts.
• Work with Sales/Marketing to define process specifications for Veeco tools.
• Develop upgrades and hardware in coordination with Engineering for deposition and etch technologies.
