Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a People Operations Business Partner to provide hands-on HR support across manufacturing and engineering. This contract role requires an on-site presence five days a week in Devens, MA, with flexibility for hours to support a 24x7 operation.

The role partners with Senior People Business Partners to address day-to-day employee relations, performance concerns, and workforce changes while building HR partnering capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing/engineering/industrial environments.
• Experience with employee relations, performance, attendance, and coaching.
• Exposure to benefits administration, leave administration, and lifecycle processes.
• Discretion with confidential information and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Senior People BP to support a large employee population across manufacturing and engineering.
• Serve as first contact for routine employee questions; escalate high-risk matters.
• Understand organization needs, structure, and workforce priorities.
• Support leadership meetings, talent discussions, and workforce planning.
• Identify recurring people issues and recommend improvements to the Senior BP team.
• Maintain visibility by spending time in work areas and coaching managers on relations matters.
• Conduct or support employee investigations and documentation with Senior BP guidance.
• Assist with onboarding, transfers, promotions, and offboarding activities.
• Support engagement, retention, recognition, and communication initiatives.
