Job summary

First Roles is seeking an Entry Level Patient Access Associate Specialist to support patient registration and access in a hospital setting at Ballad - Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, VA. This on-site role focuses on accurate data entry, compliance checks, and delivering a positive patient experience while contributing to revenue cycle KPIs.

Responsibilities include pre-registration, insurance collection, ABN software usage, and assisting with eligibility verification.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Must be inquisitive and open to AI-driven process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Assign MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, collect insurance info, process physician orders with an overlay tool, and provide excellent service.
• Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming/outgoing/inter-office calls.
• Adhere to policies and provide compassionate customer service.
• Be accountable for point-of-service goals as assigned.
• Audit and report data to Patient Access leadership to ensure accuracy.
• Pre-register patient accounts and collect demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Explain consent forms and distribute patient education documents to patients.
• Review eligibility responses and apply insurance plan codes to support POS and billing.
