Job summary

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Field Support Specialist to provide hands-on support for Oracle hardware environments running Solaris and Linux, including legacy Sun Microsystems systems.

This role requires on-site service, travel to customer sites, and close collaboration with data center staff to meet contract SLAs while maintaining security compliance. A U.S. citizenship background check and polygraph are part of the requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle and Sun Microsystems hardware, firmware, and software systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Solaris and Linux operating systems in Oracle hardware environments.
• Experience performing system patching, updates, and maintenance for Oracle/Sun platforms.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with ability to work independently in on-site environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on on-site support for Oracle hardware environments, including ZFS storage, Exadata, Oracle Database Appliances, and legacy Sun Microsystems systems.
• Deliver on-site service desk support and manage local ticketing queues for hardware and software requests.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, including drive replacement, latency issues, power failures, and connectivity problems.
• Travel to customer sites to perform break/fix activities and implement hardware solutions.
• Provide excellent customer service via email, phone, and messaging platforms.
• Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout issue resolution and service delivery.
