Job summary

Morgan & Morgan is seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to work closely with a lead attorney on medical malpractice litigation. The role involves drafting and e-filing pleadings, conducting legal research, organizing medical records, preparing discovery documents, coordinating depositions, and supporting expert coordination.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of legal experience, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a legal setting (litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice a plus).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and work within procedural and filing requirements of state courts.

Responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and e-file legal documents including pleadings, motions, complaints, affidavits, memoranda, summons, and appellate documents in state and federal court.
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation, including state-specific medical malpractice statutes, pre-suit notice requirements, and deadlines; track key case deadlines.
• Request, organize, and summarize medical records; prepare medical chronologies and identify potential standard-of-care issues for attorney review.
• Prepare and respond to discovery documents, including interrogatories; maintain pleadings, discovery, and exhibit indexes.
• Coordinate depositions, summarize transcripts, and assist with witness preparation.
• Support medical expert coordination and communication.
• Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and appendices with the legal assistant.
• Liaise between trial teams and clients, courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, and records vendors.
• Assist with case settlements and other duties as assigned.
