Job summary

Morgan & Morgan, P.A. is seeking a on-site legal support professional to collaborate with lead attorneys on medical malpractice cases. You will draft, e-file, and organize pleadings, research statutes, and manage medical records to support case strategy.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a legal setting — litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice experience a plus
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records review a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload with a positive attitude
• Willingness to learn and work within state court procedures
• Associate's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred but not required
• This role is on-site to immerse in the work and gain direct team experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and e-file legal documents including pleadings, motions, complaints, affidavits, memoranda, summons, and appellate documents in state and federal court
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation, including state medical malpractice statutes, pre-suit notice, statutes of limitation; track key deadlines
• Request, organize, and summarize medical records; prepare medical chronologies and identify standard-of-care issues for attorney review
• Prepare and respond to discovery documents, including interrogatories; maintain pleadings, discovery, and exhibit indexes
• Coordinate depositions, summarize transcripts, and assist with witness preparation
• Support medical expert coordination and communication
• Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and appendices with the legal assistant
• Liaise between trial teams and clients, courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, and records vendors
• Assist with case settlements and other duties as assigned
