Job summary

DwyerOmega is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in San Marcos, CA. This on-site internship runs May through August 2027, full-time, with hours 6:00am–4:30pm PST, supporting manufacturing operations and Lean initiatives.

You will analyze production processes, design tooling, update labor standards, and work with cross-functional teams to improve throughput, quality, and efficiency while gaining real-world experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field with strong academic performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated in projects or coursework.
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform time studies by product model and optimize production processes while updating labor standards.
• Design tooling and test equipment to facilitate manufacturing processes and improve operator efficiency.
• Analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve throughput, quality, and productivity.
• Assist in implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing procedures.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for production and quality issues.
• Participate in process validation, equipment qualification, and improvement projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Engineering.
