Job summary

DwyerOmega is seeking an engineering intern for Spring 2027 at our Michigan City, IN site (or South Bend, IN). The internship runs January–April 2027, full‑time, on‑site, and offers hands‑on experience in product design, testing, validation, and documenting continuous improvement.

You will support production by updating work instructions, transitioning documents to a new format, and assisting with Kaizen events for process improvements.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full‑time student in a two‑year or four‑year college or university program, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to design and build test and calibration equipment for new and existing products.
• Improve productivity through ergonomic evaluations, time studies, simulations, and line balancing.
• Conduct cost analysis to support manufacturing decisions.
• Create and maintain process documentation, including mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and work instructions.
• Optimize manufacturing processes and assembly flow.
• Support quality control initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Assist with PLC, HMI, and robotic programming (as applicable).
