Job summary

Mayo Clinic Laboratories seeks a Laboratory Referral Specialist I/II to manage client referral work on-site in a hospital setting. You will support a client’s clinical lab staff and oversee specimen handling, processing, and communications with stakeholders.

This role requires a high school diploma or higher, with 1–3 years of relevant experience depending on level, and strong multitasking, confidentiality, and customer-service skills. Experience with LIS is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor degree or associate degree with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Resume required; internal applicants should attach performance appraisals.
• Bachelor’s degree and prior laboratory experience preferred.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage a client’s referral send-out work arriving at Mayo Clinic Laboratories.
• Provide onsite customer service and assist client’s clinical laboratory staff.
• Handle receipt, verification, handling, aliquoting, processing and shipping of specimens.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and monitor assigned reports.
• Coordinate LIS maintenance, billing, quality metrics, and staff training.
