Job summary

City of El Paso is seeking a skilled IT support specialist to provide primary client support in a networked PC environment. The role involves installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware to ensure optimal workstation performance.

You will configure PCs with standard office applications, document issues, monitor performance, and respond to inquiries via phone or email. A CJIS background check is required within six months of hire, with strict eligibility standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in a related field with two years' computer hardware/software support experience with LAN.
• CJIS fingerprint-based background check required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary client support in a networked PC environment.
• Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade hardware and related equipment for optimal workstation performance.
• Configure PCs with standard office apps and install at client locations.
• Prepare reports and logs to monitor PC performance.
• Document hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
• Monitor/test PC performance and provide performance statistics/reports.
• Respond to calls/pages/emails regarding PC/hardware problems.
• Perform on-site analysis/diagnostics and resolve complex PC problems.
• Recommend and implement hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
• Install/configure/test/maintain PC and networking software products.
• Schedule/perform PC hardware/software upgrades/repairs.
• Confer with higher-level staff on complex problems.
• Document all trouble reports in help desk software.
• Perform related duties and substitute during absences.
