Surge Staffing is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to support employees at our headquarters and across the branch network, troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity, and account access issues to keep operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who communicates clearly, stays organized, and provides patient, professional support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year in IT help desk or desktop support.
• Working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365.
• Basic networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
• Ability to explain tech issues to nontechnical users.
• Strong customer service, communication and organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for IT support via phone, email or tickets.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, phones and equipment.
• Support Windows OS and Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
• Diagnose basic network/VPN issues; escalate when needed.
• Install and maintain approved hardware and software.
• Assist onboarding by configuring accounts and access.
• Assist offboarding by restricting access and recovering equipment.
• Provide remote and on-site support as needed.
• Document issues and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Prioritize requests and communicate progress to users.
• Escalate unresolved issues to IT team or vendors and follow through.
• Maintain equipment inventory and support documentation.
• Support security best practices and protect sensitive information.
• Assist with IT projects and equipment rollouts.
