Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking a customer-focused IT Support Specialist (Help Desk Technician) to support employees at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio and across our branch network. This role troubleshoots hardware, software, connectivity, and account access to keep operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate will communicate clearly, stay organized, and provide patient, professional support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must have IT help desk or desktop support experience.
• Strong knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365.
• Basic networking concepts and VPN connectivity.
• Ability to explain technical solutions to nontechnical users.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Discretion with confidential information and detail-oriented work.
• Ability to work independently and with IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for support requests via phone, email, and ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, and office equipment.
• Support Windows and Microsoft 365 apps including Outlook and Teams.
• Diagnose basic network, Wi-Fi, VPN issues; escalate complex problems.
• Install, configure, and maintain approved hardware/software.
• Assist with onboarding by preparing equipment and configuring accounts.
• Assist with offboarding by restricting access and recovering devices.
• Handle password resets and MFA support.
• Provide remote assistance and coordinate on-site support as needed.
• Document issues and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Escalate unresolved issues and track progress to resolution.
• Maintain inventory and IT documentation.
