Job summary

MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. seeks a Field Swing – Heavy Equipment technician to visit customer sites and perform on-the-road repairs, updates, and routine services. The role involves working in a busy schedule with direct customer interaction to understand needs and deliver exceptional service.

The candidate should have strong experience in heavy equipment maintenance, punctuality, and excellent communication skills, with a Chauffeur's license and DOT Medical Card before starting.

Qualifications

• Strong experience performing service and maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Punctual at work with a reliable track record.
• Excellent communication to gather information from customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate in-field on a 1-ton truck with up to a 3000-lb crane.
• Perform Caterpillar service letter updates (<1 day) without large crane or diagnostics.
• Update, remove, and install GPS units.
• Assist on larger jobs as needed.
• Not used in emergency call rotation.
• Adjust V-belts and tighten or replace bolts or fasteners.
• Replace ground engaging tools (teeth/tips) and cutting edges on small loaders.
• Adjust track tension and replace lighting components.
• Replace fuses or switches without diagnostics.
• Replace seat pad/armrest and cab hardware (knobs, latches, steps).
• Repair/replace safety equipment such as backup alarms, seat belts, mirrors.
• Reel load bank/generator cables; repair, fabricate and replace hoses.
• Retrieve codes, download data, and perform minor calibrations.
