Job summary

VoltaGrid in Abilene, TX seeks a Health Safety Environmental Coordinator to provide on-site safety support during construction and operations of a 140-acre laydown yard and future microgrid site. You will drive proactive safety culture, conduct inspections, coordinate training, and report incidents to ensure OSHA compliance.

The role collaborates with operations to implement corrective actions and maintain safety across all site activities, coordinating with safety and people operations teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in fleet safety, compliance, or construction operations.
• Experience using fleet telematics systems such as Samsara is strongly preferred.
• Strong reporting, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day administrative support for health & safety organization.
• Support safety culture for the project site and coordinate with teams.
• Work with People Operations and Safety to align practices across teams.
• Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and audits.
• Communicate findings to drivers and management clearly.
• Assist with safety performance metrics and targets.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure OSHA 1910/1926 compliance.
• Facilitate safety briefings, toolbox talks, and drills.
• Document incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
• Help identify and mitigate job-specific hazards with project management.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders; support safe commissioning.
• Assist with training operations personnel in hazard recognition and safe work practices.
• Analyze safety data to identify trends and improvements.
• Provide data reporting to evaluate safety outcomes and operations.
• Coach personnel during field safety audits and ensure compliance.
