Job summary

VoltaGrid LLC is hiring an Health, Safety, and Environmental Coordinator to support our Abilene site during construction and operations. The role focuses on promoting a proactive safety culture, coordinating with People Operations and Safety, and guiding safety initiatives across all site activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in fleet safety, compliance, or construction operations preferred.
  • Experience using fleet telematics systems such as Samsara is strongly preferred.
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

Position Title: HEALTH SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR
Location: ABILENE, TX
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: SENIOR HSE MANAGER

Position Summary: The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing onsite support for safety support during both the construction and operations of the 140 acre laydown yard in Abilene, Texas and a future microgrid power generation site. This role will be established during the construction phase and will remain during operations as the site safety role. The coordinator will support safety initiatives and drive a proactive safety culture across all site activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for health & safety organization
  • Supporting positive safety culture for the project site.
  • Work closely with the People Operations and Safety departments to align safety practices across teams
  • Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and compliance audits.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both drivers and management.
  • Assist with safety performance metrics and key targets for the project.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA 1910 and 1926, company policies, and local regulations.
  • Facilitate daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
  • Document and report all incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with project management to identify and mitigate job-specific hazards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting safe commissioning and transition from construction to operational status.
  • Facilitate the permit to work process within the designated power blocks
  • Assist with training operations personnel in hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide data analysis and reporting support to evaluate safety outcomes and operational improvements.
  • Assist field safety audits to verify compliance and coach personnel in hazard recognition and mitigation.
  • Provide immediate first aid or coordinate medical response as required.
  • Promote ethical behavior, safety accountability, and a strong, proactive safety culture.
  • Communicate policies, plans, and procedures clearly to ensure compliance and alignment with VoltaGrid's core safety values
  • Collaborate with the operations team to identify and implement corrective actions following safety incidents or violations.
  • Track and document safety infractions and resolution timelines.

Educational and Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
