Job summary

LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Librarian to provide professional library, research, reference, collection management, and technical services in support of a federal government customer in the Northern Virginia area.

The Librarian will work on-site in a highly secure professional environment, supporting government personnel through effective access to authoritative print and electronic information resources.

Qualifications

• Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), MLS or equivalent master’s in library/information science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Strong preference for candidates with active TS/SCI or SECRET clearance.
• Experience providing professional library, research, reference or technical services.
• Ability to conduct complex research using online databases, catalogs and authoritative sources.
• Knowledge of reference services, collection management, cataloging/metadata, circulation and electronic-resource support.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional reference and research services to government personnel.
• Support circulation, interlibrary loan and document delivery operations.
• Conduct literature and database searches across multiple resources.
• Assist users in locating and evaluating print, electronic, and digital resources.
• Support collection development and management and metadata creation.
• Perform cataloging/metadata maintenance using standards and procedures.
• Manage electronic resources and library platforms.
