Job summary

LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Librarian to provide professional library, research, reference, collection management, and technical services for a federal government customer in the Northern Virginia area. The Librarian will work on-site in a highly secure professional environment, supporting government personnel through effective access to authoritative print and electronic information resources.

Qualifications

• MLIS/MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
• Active TS/SCI or SECRET clearance preferred.
• Professional library experience in research, reference, or technical services.
• Ability to conduct complex research using databases, catalogs, and web resources.
• Knowledge of cataloging/metadata, circulation, and electronic-resource support.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional reference and research services to government personnel.
• Support circulation, interlibrary loan, document delivery, serials, and day-to-day operations.
• Conduct searches using diverse resources (commercial, government, academic, open-source).
• Assist users in locating, evaluating, and using print, electronic, and digital resources.
• Support collection development, inventory, and disposal as needed.
• Perform or support cataloging and metadata creation following standards.
• Administer electronic resources and research databases.
• Develop topic guides, bibliographies, and instructional materials.
• Provide instruction on resources and information-literacy practices.
• Maintain statistics and contribute to performance reports.
