LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Cataloging Librarian to support a federal library in Alexandria, Virginia. The role focuses on original and copy cataloging of print materials, creating MARC-based bibliographic records, and ensuring quality control in accordance with cataloging standards.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging of print library materials and other publications
• Create complete bibliographic records using the MARC framework and professional cataloging practices
• Apply current cataloging standards including RDA and AACR2 as appropriate
• Perform subject analysis and assign LCSH and local subject headings
• Assign classification information and access points to support discovery
• Research and resolve complex cataloging questions for difficult materials
• Review and edit bibliographic records for accuracy and quality
• Maintain production quality and stay current with cataloging standards
