Job summary

J. Rieger & Co. is seeking an Event Captain to serve as the primary on-site contact for private events, coordinating execution and directing hourly staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience. Shifts align with the event calendar and there may be additional serving or bartending duties in the company outlets.

This role is not a management position and does not involve hiring, scheduling, or performance decisions. Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events is required.

Qualifications

• Two or more years in hospitality, food & beverage, catering, or guest services.
• Experience executing private events such as weddings or corporate functions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-site contact for clients during events.
• Review event orders, timelines, layouts, and menus before service.
• Direct real-time workflow of event staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate setup, service, transitions, and teardown with other departments.
• Maintain communication with events management, culinary, bar, and service teams.
• Answer client and staff questions and communicate changes clearly.
• Resolve service issues calmly and professionally.
• Document event results and client feedback after events.
• Report on-time arrival and readiness for shifts.
