Job summary

Clean Harbors in Germantown, WI seeks an Environmental Field Chemist to handle, segregate, pack and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and labs. This is a customer facing, on-site role with a 6:00 am start and overtime after 40 hours. Training is paid and may require travel for an out-of-state academy.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Must perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Background check, drug test, and physical as required.
• Comply with OSHA respirator protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety and follow safe work practices.
• Create packing lists, labels, manifests and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, accumulating and storage areas for housekeeping and compliance.
• Inspect drums for leaks or spills and proper labeling.
• Collect, segregate and package waste chemicals for disposal.
• Perform jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 sites.
• Approve projects before shipment per OSHA/EPA/DOT policies.
• Follow site-specific regulations and health and safety plans.
• Understand disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams needing analysis.
• Ensure correct drum count and ship readiness.
• Follow local, state and federal regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles per DOT and laws.
• Follow corporate EHS guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
