Job summary

Santa Monica Seafood, established in 1939, is the largest seafood-only distributor in the Southwestern United States. Our Rancho Dominguez facility is a state-of-the-art 120,000 sq. ft.

headquarters dedicated to processing and distributing premium seafood products. The EHS Specialist will support the Corporate Manager of Safety, Security & Loss Prevention in developing and continuously improving our EHS programs, with a strong emphasis on OSHA and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in EHS, safety, environmental compliance, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Knowledge or experience with environmental compliance programs (hazardous materials, hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, etc.).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• OSHA 30-hour, CSP, ASP, CHMM or related certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support EHS compliance & regulatory activities; focus on OSHA and environmental compliance.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions; track actions to completion.
• Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and responses to findings.
• Maintain EHS records, documentation, and regulatory files.
• Coordinate with management on changes in regulations and training materials.
• Support environmental compliance programs (hazardous materials/waste, stormwater, air quality).
• Develop and implement safety programs; provide safety training for employees.
