Santa Monica Seafood, as an 80-year-old privately owned company, is the largest specialty wholesale distribution and processor of fresh and frozen seafood in the Southwestern U.S. with over 200,000 SF of facilities in 12 locations In California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Santa Monica Seafood was the first and still the only seafood company in the United States to achieve FSSC 22000 certification for food safety management systems, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management programs, and BAP certification of its main processing facility.
Shift Schedule
- Schedule: 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM, Monday through Saturday. Employees receive one day off during the week. Sunday shifts are on an as-needed, on-call basis.
- Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 an hour DOE
Technical & Trade Skills
- Electrical Systems: Ability to read electrical schematics, trace circuits, and troubleshoot 480V 3-phase power systems, control panels, relays, sensors, motor starters, and VFDs using a multimeter.
- Mechanical Systems: Hands-on experience repairing gearboxes, drive belts, chains, bearings, pumps, alignment systems, and material handling/conveyor equipment.
- Fluid Power: Experience diagnosing and servicing pneumatic systems (cylinders, solenoid valves, air compressors) and hydraulic systems.
- Automation & PLCs: Basic troubleshooting of PLCs, including checking I/O status, reading ladder logic, and working with HMIs.
- Fabrication & Tool Operation: Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers), tap and die sets, power tools, and basic welding and grinding for component modification.
Safety & Operational Skills
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, OSHA regulations, and proper PPE requirements.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Performing preventive maintenance tasks, inspecting equipment to identify wear before failure occurs, and conducting basic condition monitoring.
- CMMS & Work Order Tracking: Experience creating and closing work orders, documenting root causes, and managing spare parts requests within a CMMS.
Analytical & Interpersonal Skills
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Ability to systematically diagnose equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions rather than temporary fixes.
- Shift Handover & Communication: Effectively documenting completed repairs, ongoing issues, and parts requirements for incoming shifts and cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability & Time Management: Ability to prioritize unexpected equipment downtime and production-critical issues while managing routine maintenance tasks.
Desired Education
- Associate degree in Electronics/Electrical Technology and/or equivalent formal training and work experience.
