Job summary

Fermi America seeks a Data Center Construction Manager to serve as the daily field presence overseeing the design-build partner delivering its data center buildings.

You will verify what is built, track progress and pay-application quantities, and remove owner-side obstacles quickly to keep the partner from claiming delays, while reporting to the DC Construction Director and coordinating with safety, scheduling, and campus teams. This is a full-time, on-site role at the Amarillo campus.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in construction management, field supervision, or owner’s representation on large capital projects, including data centers or comparable complex projects.
• Experience as an owner’s representative or general contractor field leader with accountability for progress verification.
• Working knowledge of data center construction scope and sequencing.
• Experience with lump-sum turnkey, design-build, or EPC delivery models.
• Experience documenting change events and differing site conditions.
• Strong site logistics and heavy-lift coordination.
• Ability to read and assess construction schedules and validate look-ahead schedules.
• Knowledge of construction safety and the ability to stop work when necessary.
• Clear written communication and disciplined documentation habits.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Serve as daily field interface with the design-build partner’s leadership across active areas of the building.
• Verify physical work in place against reported progress and pay-application quantities.
• Drive resolution of owner-side requests and access needs within response times.
• Maintain daily and weekly field records including manpower counts, equipment, weather and area work.
• Track schedule adherence at the field level and escalate constraints.
• Coordinate site logistics, access, laydown areas, and utilities.
• Manage field interfaces between building and campus scopes including power and connectivity.
• Enforce field demarcation when a building is delivered as a powered shell.
• Document conditions and notify leadership of potential scope growth.
• Support technical specialists with field access and nonconformances.
• Support QA/QC and commissioning with access and punch-list execution.
• Observe safety and stop work when hazards arise.
• Coordinate field readiness for commissioning activities.
• Verify as-built conditions are captured as work proceeds.
• Provide field input for weekly/monthly reporting and risk review.
• Verify receipt, storage, and transfer of owner-furnished equipment.
