Job summary

Fermi America in Amarillo, Texas is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager to serve as the daily field presence, overseeing the design-build partner delivering its data center buildings. The role verifies work in place, tracks progress, and maintains field records to support payments and schedule integrity while removing owner-side obstacles to keep the project on track.

This is a full-time, on-site position with collaboration across safety, scheduling, controls, and campus teams; 12+ years

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience in Construction Management or Engineering.
• Experience as owner’s representative or field leader in data-center projects.
• Familiarity with lump-sum turnkey or design-build delivery models.
• Strong documentation, scheduling, and safety oversight capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as daily field interface with the design-build partner’s construction leadership and maintain a constant field presence across all active areas of the building.
• Verify physical work in place against reported progress and pay quantities to support payment recommendations.
• Drive the resolution of owner-side requests, decisions, access needs, and interferences within committed response times and maintain records for claims defense.
• Maintain daily/weekly field records (craft counts, equipment on site, weather, deliveries, area work) to support claims and schedule.
• Track schedule adherence at the work face by comparing progress with the look-ahead schedule; escalate constraints before float is consumed.
• Coordinate site logistics, access, laydown, utilities, crane/heavy-lift coordination, and shared use of campus roads and infrastructure.
• Manage field interfaces between base building and tenant fit-out, including boundary demarcation and boundary escalation to the Design Integration Manager.
• Identify potential scope growth or differing site conditions and document conditions before they harden.
• Support field safety and QA/QC with inspection access, punch-list execution, and field commissioning readiness.
• Observe unsafe conditions and hold the partner accountable to Fermi requirements and regulations; stop work for imminent hazards.
• Provide field input for weekly/monthly reporting and support procurement with care of owner-furnished equipment.
