Job summary

Build Group is seeking a Project Accountant to work closely with Project Management on all areas of project accounting, reporting, subcontracting and administrative issues. The ideal candidate will multi-task, maintain attention to detail, and bring construction accounting experience.

This is an on-site role in Santa Monica, CA. You will handle transactional, compliance and reporting tasks, coordinate with clients and trades, review invoices, prepare owner billings, and manage lien/insurance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction accounting.
• Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Adherence to company policy and procedures; ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on transactional, compliance and reporting functions.
• Communicate with clients, internal team, trades, lenders and corporate accounting.
• Understand key contract terms related to finance and accounting for compliance and risk management.
• Assist in project start-up and close-out activities, including record retention.
• Review, code and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices with Project Managers.
• Prepare monthly owner billings, schedule of value updates, and owner change orders.
• Maintain documentation of all SOV revisions and contingency use with backups.
• Track subcontractor insurance and licensing compliance.
• Prepare, code and process expense reports.
