Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site activities for major infrastructure projects. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, and ensure safety and quality across the job site.

The role demands strong leadership, budgeting knowledge, and the ability to travel to project locations. You will partner with clients and project teams to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant construction discipline (construction management or engineering).
• Five+ years in construction management; superintendent experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.
• OSHA-30 certification and knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
• Strong project management with budgeting best-in-industry practices.
• Collaborative with clients and crews.
• Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, and design layouts.
• Understanding of construction equipment and safe operation/maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and quality management skills; problem solving.
• Excellent communication and time management.
• Willingness to travel frequently for long-term assignments.
• Strong planning, design execution, and contingency management.
• Effective leadership to motivate teams and resolve conflicts.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all site activities according to project plans and schedules.
• Manage a team of workers with schedules, progress, and resource allocation.
• Create cost estimates for labor, materials, and other project costs.
• Coordinate with clients, Project Managers, and other management to determine budgets and timelines.
• Schedule materials and equipment deliveries with vendors.
• Hire and assign work to subcontractors.
• Maintain daily job-site logs and report to management.
• Implement cost-effective management techniques and adjust operations as needed.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, vendors, and inspectors on site.
• Prevent scope creep and ensure timely project completion.
