Job summary

Brown Construction, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in field management, safety, and project execution in California.

You will help ensure tools, permits, and processes are in place, develop a big-picture project understanding, and maintain site documentation including daily reports and logs. You will coordinate subcontractors, assist with submittals and schedules, and uphold safety and quality standards on site.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent in ensuring proper tools, permits, processes, and other requirements are in place prior to the beginning of the project
• Develop a big picture understanding of the project with the Superintendent
• Maintain site documents: daily reports, Sub Daily Sign-In Log, Visitor Log, Contracts, Bulletins, etc.
• Clarify ambiguous details and generate RFIs for PE’s and PM’s
• Manage internal field labor
• Assist with submittals, procurement schedule, plan documentation, site documentation
• Ensure submittals are approved by architect/engineer/client
• Keep field drawings, shop drawings, and submittals current
• Coordinate subcontractors on site and discuss issues
• Track progress and update schedule and logistics to build per plans
• Direct subcontractors according to job knowledge
• Maintain communication with subcontractor base, vendors, consultants, and project team
• Assist in quality control and daily progress photos; organize photos
• Create and manage punch list and project closeout
• Maintain site safety and compliance with laws; ensure site cleanliness
• Act as Acting Superintendent when needed
