Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to respond to repair orders and estimate costs; procure materials cost-effectively.
• Ability to build furniture and fixtures; install doors, cabinets, and hardware; perform concrete work.

Responsibilities

• Respond to repair orders; establish priority of repairs; estimate cost of jobs; acquire materials cost-effectively.
• Build furniture and fixtures such as tables, cabinets, and bookshelves per agency requests; select and order materials; cut and assemble; finish.
• Inspect, repair, replace, and maintain doors, jambs, fencing, gates, walls, and related components to code.
• Install, repair, replace, and maintain roofs and roof components; ensure adherence to specs and building codes.
• Assist contractors by providing information; review bids and work for quality and conformance with codes.
• Provide training and supervision to maintenance staff; perform related duties as assigned.
