Job summary

State of Nevada's Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City seeks a Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 to maintain, repair, and modify projects across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and related equipment.

This advanced journey-level role requires reading blueprints, supervising inmate crews, and ensuring work meets code requirements. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, with occasional extended hours for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience under supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more major building or mechanical trades, plus one year of journey level experience with repair and maintenance tasks.
• Or one year of journey level experience as Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Read blueprints and schematics; determine best method to modify plumbing, electrical or structural systems.
• Knowledge of state and local building and fire codes relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and modify plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and equipment.
• Review blueprints and schematics to plan work; calculate load requirements; install wiring and fixtures.
• Lead inmate crews as a regular lead worker; document performance through reports.
• Inspect and supervise work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform related duties and may serve as lead worker or supervisor in facility management.
