Job summary

Lincoln Property Company is seeking a Building Engineer I to maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in our New Jersey Rockaway office. You will perform routine maintenance, address tenant requests, and support senior engineers to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, safety adherence, and collaborative work with a team of engineers and property managers.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of job-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
• Engineering and trade licenses required per local, state, or national requirements.
• CFC Certification preferred.
• Developing familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; gaining experience with BAS operation and troubleshooting.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and laptop/phone applications for work order systems, email, and training platforms.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems.
• Address service requests, including hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalates issues as needed.
• Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components as required.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance.
• Conduct property inspections to identify deficiencies; assist with preventive maintenance tasks and contractor oversight.
• Follow company safety protocols and use PPE for all tasks; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; report hazards immediately and participate in safety audits.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies; handle urgent tenant service requests and support recovery efforts during severe weather and system outages.
• Interact with tenants, contractors, and property managers; work closely with senior engineers and technicians.
• Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills; participate in professional development programs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
