Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to provide essential peer and operational support to patients during recovery. You will supervise, observe, and document while maintaining safety and a therapeutic environment on-site in Texas.

The role involves crisis de-escalation, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to Joint Commission standards. Part-time schedule and $16/hour compensation are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent or higher.
• Minimum age of 21 and driving requirement when driving is assigned.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or mental health settings preferred.
• Detoxification and/or residential level of care experience preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, empathy, and composure in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and document observations; report concerns to staff.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and follow emergency protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules and therapeutic behavior.
• Measure vital signs and perform CLIA-waived testing as trained.
• Supervise self-administration of medications when permitted.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, patient movement, and activities.
• Support engagement in treatment programming and daily routines.
