Job summary

Smart Start, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Service Technician to install, service, troubleshoot, and remove vehicle-based electronic and alcohol-monitoring equipment at our San Antonio facility.

You will handle 12-volt automotive electronics, including remote starters, stereos, GPS, and backup cameras, with training provided for our specific equipment. The role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude, customer‑facing skills, and the ability to troubleshoot independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• At least one year of customer-facing experience preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems independently.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation when required by location.
• Ability to meet applicable background-check and drug-screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and remove alcohol monitoring and vehicle electronic devices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Conduct customer training sessions and provide phone support to ensure satisfaction.
• Make daily or weekly reminder calls to customers with upcoming appointments.
• Perform monthly inventory audits and assist nearby facilities as needed.
• Manage weekly work hours (≤ 40 hours/week) and communicate effectively with management.
• Uphold confidentiality, data security, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including vehicle-to-vehicle transfers.
