Job summary

Hines is seeking an Apprentice Engineer to assist in operating and maintaining building systems at a property. You will engage with the engineering team to service mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC equipment, monitor logs, and support safety procedures.

This on-site role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and hands-on learning in a dynamic environment. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and may have related certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of related experience preferred
• Related trade certifications preferred
• Continually develop building engineering knowledge
• Read and understand instructions and manuals
• Understand proper use of power tools
• Lift 25 lbs or more
• Work indoors ~80% and outdoors ~20%
• Shift work including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Fully on-site role five days per week

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Make adjustments to HVAC equipment to meet operating criteria.
• Perform general repairs and replacement of building components.
• Participate in water treatment chemical programs and logs.
• Apply basic HVAC distribution knowledge to resolve work orders.
• Provide prompt, courteous response to tenant requests.
• Maintain cooperative relations with staff, contractors and tenants.
• Learn and follow emergency procedures, life safety systems and evacuations.
