Job summary

PPL CPA in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an Accountant to join our on-site bookkeeping team. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, posting transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial statements and tax return preparation.

Requirements include 2–3 years of public accounting experience, an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, and strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years experience in public accounting is required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience in a CPA firm or similar environment is required.
• Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with bookkeeping and accounting software (such as QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online).
• Experience using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with solid spreadsheet skills (e.g., Excel).
• Knowledge of basic tax concepts, support for tax return preparation, and familiarity with relevant accounting and tax regulations.
• Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Ability to work on-site in Baton Rouge, LA, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, including posting transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and preparing journal entries.
• Assist with preparing financial statements, supporting tax return preparation, and compiling reports for internal review and client use.
• Daily tasks include managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, monitoring general ledger activity, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and firm policies.
• Communicate with clients and internal team members to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and provide timely updates on financial matters.
