Job summary

General Atomics seeks a hands-on Linux infrastructure engineer to architect, optimize, and maintain an on-premises data pipeline supporting real-time ML models for the DIII-D program. Responsibilities include bare-metal deployments, high-velocity networking, OT security, NVMe storage, kernel tuning, and Ansible automation for reliable, scalable operations in a secure data center environment.

Qualifications

• Experience administering on-premises Linux infrastructure (RHEL).
• Strong knowledge of bare-metal deployments and hardware topology.
• Experience securing OT/SCADA-like networks and enforcing strict policies.
• Familiarity with high-density storage systems and parallel filesystems.
• Ability to benchmark, tune kernel parameters, and optimize I/O performance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, operate, and optimize on-prem x86 and GPU server infrastructure running RHEL.
• Provision and troubleshoot high-speed NFS and RoCEv2 networking.
• Maintain a heavily firewalled, Deny All Inbound security posture.
• Build and maintain NVMe storage tiers and parallel filesystems (BeeGFS/ZFS).
• Conduct system I/O benchmarks and kernel tuning for data velocity.
