Job summary

10x Genomics is seeking a seasoned Linux System Administrator to design, operate, and secure HPC compute/storage across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments. You will manage petabyte-scale data with emphasis on performance, reliability, and data protection.

Responsibilities include architecture of storage clusters, backup systems, data lifecycle management, and incident post-mortems. The role requires strong scripting and IaC skills in Bash/Python, Ansible, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• 5 years managing petabyte-scale enterprise or HPC storage.
• Experience with data replication and backup technologies.
• Experience with Debian, Ubuntu, and Amazon Linux.
• Experience with AWS (S3, EBS, EC2, VPC, IAM).
• Knowledge of cross-platform file sharing protocols (NFS, SMB) and access controls (AD/LDAP), including NFSv4 with Kerberos.
• Experience scripting in Bash or Python.
• Experience with IaC and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate and document enterprise and HPC compute and storage across hybrid environments.
• Architect and maintain storage and compute clusters with best practices for patching and performance tuning.
• Manage off-site/cloud backup, archive, and data replication solutions.
• Enforce data integrity, security compliance and automated monitoring across production storage and backup systems.
• Manage data lifecycle of corporate and research datasets with DLM policies.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support production.
• Lead post-incident reviews to identify root causes and preventative fixes.
