Job summary

Pronoia Energy is building an internal, grounded AI platform on owned hardware in Torrance, CA. The Platform and Infrastructure Engineer will enable reliable local model serving, an on-prem database, and a sandboxed execution environment with strict boundary discipline.

This role emphasizes trust-boundary design, security, and the ability to evolve from a generalist foundation to specialized hires, with onsite work in Torrance, California.

Qualifications

• Deep backend and systems engineering with genuine bare-metal or on-premises experience.
• Real sandboxing and untrusted-code isolation depth (network namespaces, seccomp, etc.).
• Security instinct with default-deny, auditable infrastructure.
• Founding generalist who can later hand specialties to hires.
• Thrives in ambiguity and rapid iteration.

Responsibilities

• Build reliable local model serving and data infrastructure on owned, on-premises hardware.
• Stand up a sandboxed code-execution environment with default-deny networking.
• Implement the provenance and audit store that records where every fact came from.
• Design the early system with secure end-state, data classification and boundary discipline.
• Wear several hats as a founding generalist and later hand specialties to dedicated hires.
