Job summary

OpenTeams is seeking a Software Architect - Platform Infrastructure to own end-to-end technical design for a secure AI test and evaluation platform serving government teams. You will shape architecture standards, evaluate build-versus-buy options, and guide solutions from concept to sustainment.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, ML, data, security, and software teams, providing senior technical guidance to government stakeholders and internal teams while advancing open-source AI tooling

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Eight or more years delivering enterprise-grade software engineering solutions.
• At least three years leading end-to-end platform design and technical strategy.
• Proven track record building and deploying production distributed cloud architectures.
• Comprehensive mastery spanning CI/CD, modern package distribution, ML platforms, data pipelines, and API services.
• Specialized domain mastery in MLOps, generative AI, agentic systems, or cloud infrastructure.
• Advanced Python proficiency with strong OO design and architectural patterns.
• Experience in build-versus-buy trade-offs and contract interface specifications.
• Ability to resolve enterprise challenges around security, availability, resilience, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain system blueprints and strategic roadmaps for open-source AI solutions.
• Define interface standards for seamless integration of platform services and evaluation frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and document trade-offs for feasibility and security.
• Deliver recommendations on build, buy, or adopt decisions across software portfolios.
• Incorporate public-sector hosting, identity management, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements into designs.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews to resolve architectural dependencies.
• Establish enterprise architecture standards and design review workflows.
• Advise government stakeholders and engineering teams on technical directions.
• Translate mission goals and security policies into actionable engineering tasks.
• Guide models and open-source ecosystems like PyTorch, JAX, Ray, Kubeflow.
