Job summary

City of Pflugerville seeks an Aquatics Coordinator – Recreation Center to manage daily operations of indoor aquatic facilities at Monarch Recreation Center. You will supervise lifeguards and swim instructors, ensure water quality, and lead on-deck operations during shifts.

Three years in aquatics, supervision experience, and certifications (CPR/First Aid, AFO, LGI/WSI) within six months are required. This role supports year-round programming and safety across multiple pools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in aquatics operations.
• Experience supervising lifeguards or aquatic staff is required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification within six months of hire.
• Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within six months of hire.
• Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certifications within six months of hire.
• Avalid Class C Texas driver’s license required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lifeguards and swim instructors during assigned shifts.
• Monitor indoor facilities to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform water chemistry testing and coordinate with maintenance for chemical balance.
• Lead pre-shift briefings and assign staff responsibilities.
• Provide ongoing coaching, training, and evaluation of aquatics staff.
• Support aquatics programming including swim lessons and water fitness classes.
• Respond to emergencies, lead rescue efforts, and ensure safety equipment is operational.
• Maintain documentation, logs, reports, and incident records.
• Coordinate with facilities staff on filtration, HVAC, and operational issues.
