Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking a Carpet and Floor Care Specialist to perform general cleaning and maintenance to provide a clean, safe campus environment at its Washington, DC location. This full-time on-campus role requires adherence to a detailed cleaning plan and flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• HS or GED preferred.
• One year of custodial work experience is preferred.
• A valid and current driver’s license from Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia.
• Basic knowledge of English including reading, writing, and speaking to read and understand product label instructions and University policies.
• Ability to relate custodial and maintenance problems clearly to supervisor and/or the Work Management Center.
• Ability to complete a training program in building cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice removal.
• Oversee cleanup associated with water or fire damage and special event support.
• Clean up to 28,000-35,000 square feet of cleanable space per eight-hour work day, using standard tools, equipment, materials, and supplies and observing safety rules.
• Represent the department with the University community and its visitors, behaving professionally and following University rules and guides.
• Work with other University Facilities staff as part of a team, remaining flexible to emergencies such as staffing shortages and snow removal.
