Job summary

BKF is seeking an On-Call Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits in California. The role requires 4+ years in civil construction inspection and a valid California driver’s license.

CPII and ICC certifications are highly valued. The position includes collaboration with Resident Engineer or Agency PM, documentation of materials and tests, and maintenance of daily records.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.
• Certifications such as CPII, ICC Reinforced Concrete Inspection, ICC Masonry Inspection, ICC Welding Inspection, ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade 1, Qualified SWPPP Certification, Fall protection Safety Training, First Aid & CPR are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects and informs contractors of variances from approved plans.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager on project details.
• Takes samples of materials and assists in field tests.
• Checks utilities, roadway grades, and structures for compliance.
• Reviews traffic control plans and project safety; inspects earthwork, concrete placement, and reinforcing steel.
• Assists in review of submittals, RFIs, CCOs; verifies material acceptability by certificates and tests.
• Maintains inspection records, diaries, photo log, and contract quantities.
• Other duties as assigned.
