Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAAHEP/ABHES accredited surgical technology program; or LPN with 10+ years in a Surgical Tech/Technologist role.
• Complete Surgical Tech certificate and be certified through NBSTSA/AAH/NHWA/NCCT; or NBSTSA certification.
• UKHC employee already in a Surgical Technician/Technologist role as of 09/17/2016.

Responsibilities

• Pass surgical instruments in the operating room.
• Maintain a strict sterile field and assist/perform surgical case counts.
• Obtain necessary supplies and instruments and verify completeness and readiness.
• Set up and maintain sterile field until the patient exits the room.
• Pass instruments to surgeons and anticipate their needs.
• Monitor for breaks in sterile technique and correct as needed.
