Job summary

Simpson Housing Services seeks a direct service position to work with 72 single adults in a 24-hour shelter setting, ensuring essential needs are met and advocacy provided. The role involves coordinating on-site shelter operations, supporting volunteers, maintaining a safe environment, and upholding shelter rules.

You will engage in descalation, crisis response, and daily tasks such as laundry and donations, while collaborating with staff and ensuring professional boundaries and anti-racist

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to crises.
• Willingness to work flexible/open availability.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate on-site shelter operations, coordinating with staff and volunteers.
• Greet and support volunteers and meal groups, maintain a hospitable, safe environment.
• Enforce shelter rules and respond to guest questions.
• Complete rounds to ensure guest safety and assist with guest needs.
• Deescalate conflicts and provide crisis support.
• Assist with daily tasks such as laundry, dishwashing, and donations.
• Work with shelter team to cover front desk, dining area, and shelter floor.
• Stay informed on shelter and homeless services resources.
• Maintain professionalism and boundaries with participants.
• Maintain confidential records and organize client files.
• Represent Simpson Housing Services positively to participants, donors, and partners.
• Commit to anti-racism and social justice through trainings and practice.
