Job summary

RBR Alliance, Inc. in Salem, Indiana seeks a Shelter Advocate to support shelter operations, respond to crises, assist hotline callers, and help residents and victims navigate services. The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts and travel between program sites as needed.

The Shelter Advocate will maintain confidentiality, document interactions, and collaborate with the Victim Services Shelter Manager to ensure safety and well-being of residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; no prior experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication with proper grammar.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and stakeholders.
• Ability to travel between sites and maintain confidentiality.
• Basic computer skills in Google Docs and Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist Shelter Director and Shelter Manager with daily shelter operations and direct client services.
• Respond to crisis situations, emergencies, conflicts, and resident concerns.
• Answer hotline calls and provide information, emotional support, and referrals.
• Assist victims with safety planning and information on the criminal justice process.
• Provide emotional support and advocacy to victims and shelter residents.
• Assist residents with completing service delivery plans as directed by the Shelter Manager.
• Maintain accurate client records, data entry, progress notes, and logs.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
