Job summary

Spokane Public Schools Nutrition Services is seeking an on-call, on-the-job training assistant to help prepare and serve meals and perform cleanup under the cafeteria manager or designee. The role supports a high-quality, self-sustaining program aligned with budgeted revenues and student nutrition goals.

Applicants must be willing to learn procedures, obtain a food handler permit within 14 days, and meet health and safety requirements, including background checks and possible Hepatitis A

Qualifications

• Food handler's permit within 14 days of hire.
• Hepatitis A vaccination or waiver within 14 days of hire.
• Current background check and fingerprint record on file.
• Ability to read, write, communicate, and perform basic math.
• Previous food service experience is helpful but not required.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow procedures, policies, and requirements of the Nutrition Services program.
• Perform routine food preparation, meal service, and cleaning under supervision.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots and pans, including the dish machine.
• Assist other employees in food preparation and cleaning tasks.
• Maintain a professional attitude and willingness to train and learn other positions.
• Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
