Job summary

Walla Walla Public Schools Nutrition Services is seeking an on-call Substitute Kitchen Assistant in Walla Walla, WA. The role involves assisting with food prep, serving meals and maintaining sanitation across breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

You will assist with setting up serving areas, monitoring temperatures, cleaning equipment, and supporting closing procedures. Requires HS diploma/ GED and a Washington service permit; part-time, on-site, with a starting date to be determined.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• State of Washington Food and Beverage Service Worker’s permit issued by a County Health Department.
• Experience as a substitute nutrition services kitchen assistant or other related food service experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of various food items according to production records and safety guidelines.
• Set up serving areas, utensils, napkins, trays and other items before meals.
• Serve meals and items to students and staff while ensuring proper portions and appearance.
• Monitor and record food and kitchen equipment temperatures daily.
• Clean and sanitize serving and meal areas and equipment after meal periods.
