Job summary

Independent School District 196 is seeking a part-time, on-call Food Service worker to support production, service, and clean-up in school cafeterias. Candidates should be able to work 3-5 hours per day, on-call, with a focus on safe food handling and customer interaction.

Responsibilities include adhering to meal accounting standards, assisting with setup and breakdown, and participating in district training.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills are required.
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds and stand for 3–6 hours with bending/repetitive motions.
• Experience in institutional school food service operations is helpful.
• Previous knowledge of point of sale is preferred.
• Must be able to work independently and manage contracted hours.

Responsibilities

• Comply with food service manager's instructions on production, preparation, and service of food.
• Comply with department standards to account for meals (reimbursement and ala carte sales).
• Comply with food service manager's instructions on clean-up of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom.
• Comply with safety standards in handling, preparation, storing and serving food.
• Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees.
• Attend job-related training classes and workshops.
• Interact with students in a positive and professional manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
