Job summary

Save the Children in Albemarle, NC is seeking a Program Aide on call/Substitutes to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across Head Start sites. The role includes classroom, kitchen, janitorial duties and occasional bus monitoring, reporting to the Education & Inclusion Manager or Center Director.

This on-call position requires 18+ years, a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and ability to work with diverse families.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Minimum high school diploma or GED.
Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations, now or in the future.
Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
Demonstrated knowledge of working with infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Ability to relate sensitively with children and communicate with staff, parents and families.
Proven ability to follow directions and take initiative.
Confidential handling of family information.
Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Provide educational, relational and social experiences for infants, toddlers and/or preschool-aged children.
Assist with daily classroom management and related duties across sites.
Ensure safety and security of children and families and adhere to Save the Children values.
Perform classroom, janitorial and kitchen tasks as needed; support bus monitoring when required.
