Job summary

Save the Children seeks a Program Aide on call/substitutes in Mount Gilead, NC. This on-call position supports infants to preschoolers with classroom activities, plus related duties in kitchen, janitorial, and bus routes as needed.

Reports to the Education & Inclusion Manager or Center Director and may travel to various program sites and home visits. The role emphasizes safety, confidentiality, and adherence to Head Start standards, with emphasis on teamwork and timely self-organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations.
• First aid and pediatric CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to work with infants, toddlers and preschool children.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational, relational and social experiences for children.
• Assist classroom staff and teachers as needed.
• Perform janitorial and kitchen duties as required.
• Attend workshops, meetings and parent activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow Head Start standards.
