Job summary

Alamance County Government seeks a Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks across trades in building and grounds maintenance. The role includes on-call duties during inclement weather and operating county vehicles and equipment.

A high school diploma or GED is required, with prior grounds/maintenance experience. Basic computer skills and a valid NC driver’s license are required to support the Maintenance Department and assist with events, repairs, and cleanup as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Experience: Prior knowledge in building/grounds maintenance.
• Computer Skills: basic to intermediate computer use.
• License: Valid NC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, caulking, etc.
• Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on equipment; reports defects.
• Rakes, sweeps, cleans parking areas and grounds; trash removal.
• Furniture assembly and movement for events or relocations.
• Assists with minor plumbing, electrical and construction repairs.
• Operates County vehicles and equipment; loads/unloads and stocks items.
• Maintains equipment like leaf blowers, pressure washers and small tools.
• Performs basic landscaping tasks including leaf blowing and bed weeding.
• Supports storm damage cleanup and shelter setups as needed.
